After over-shopping and over analyzing, this is the one. Perfect - Here's why

I hope this review spares you my decision making fiasco. I spent way way too much time last week looking on web and over-analyzing which of the gazillion Kindle Covers to get from Amazon for my treasured Kindle.I googled sites, followed up on every other name a reviewer mentioned.... and why? I am honestly not normally so picky and fret over decisions. There are just too many choices. You start to wonder what other bells and whistles you might miss for a kindle cover... and boom! three more features come up on yet another series of covers. I hope to spare you hours of research like I wasted. I finally narrowed down what I needed. Think about each of these. If important, you've come to the right case - Tuff-Luv.
1) A flap or gadget built into case so I could prop Kindle up at breakfast. The one for the Tuff Luv works perfectly and easily.. Some other models you have to attach the flap around the bottom and under to the back, whatever... you get the point. The Tuff-Luv mechanism design is 100% simple and elegant.
2) Solid leather/faux leather construction that has some padding for the kindle wrapped around it. This model seemed like a nice in-between -- not fancy name-brand leather carved with this or that or with some special expensive stitching. It is very smooth and appealing to hold and feels extremely well-made and sturdy.
3) The clasp/snap that you would close the cover up with: This one got me. I hadn't even considered the issue until I saw a You Tube video (they are out there with this stuff!) where a guy demonstrates a few different kindle cases/models. Some had what became an obvious flaw/annoyance... that the flap should NOT be on the side where the kindle is. So if its like a book with Kindle on the right, you don't want the case flap/snap there, since it kindof is in your way while reading or you have to hold it away. Big deal breaker, and one that eliminated a bunch of models. Tuff-Luv has it so that when you open the case, the top flips over the back (like you turn a page on a notepab. and the tab is out of your way from holding reading, everything.
4) How kindle attaches to case: I did NOT like all those elastic straps at each corner, or leather straps or anything holding the corners... it did not look attractive to me for while I read I have to see these elastic straps. This is an elegant slide-in-the-kindle case. Done. And it stays in reeally well.
5) Button access. Every single button or port is there with original kindle. The case is stitched and cut around them ALL. You have access to the actually buttons, ports, switches all times. Some cases you'd slide a leather/vinyl cover over the whole kindle and then press through fake printed leather buttons to make the real button behind it work. Looked like a clunky navigation event.
6) Case opens like book vs. flips open like this Tuff Luv. This was a tuff one (bad pun intended). Thought I'd want to keep the book-style model. But then I realized I never hold it like a book anyway actually. I flip the cover over around the back, and then hold my finger between back cover and kindle section. Simulates page turning. I can actually do the same thing with this Tuff-luv. Who cares where the "binding" is, since its not a book anyway at this point!
7) Color. Okay, pink would not be my first choice, or third of fifth. This was the last issue I had to get past before being 100% sure I wanted this Tuff-Luv model. And there were so many colors in these other brands, but the other brands had one or more of the features that I was not excited about. So back to this model which had everything else. Then my daughter walks by and sees the screen, and says how nice it was to not look like every other person's day planner or kindle case. So fine, I buy the pink case with every other feature that seemed right.
Fine so I buy pink, and shipping, it says, will be in 7-14 days or something from England. Huh?! Well I figured I'd waited this long. So I bought it over the weekend (last Saturday night). I get an email confirming shipping sometime in two weeks. I'll deal. THEN I get to my mailbox 4 days later-- Thursday -- and it is there, airmailed from London faster than my mail gets to NYC from Washington DC. Knock me over with a feather. And for no additional shipping cost other than regular boring rates.
And the best part! It is not powder pink like it looked on my screen. It is a deeper richer pink with a very sophisticated black inside cover. I love this thing. No buyer remorse, no "oh maybe I should have gotten the book style one", or whatever. You really will love the construction, solidness, easiness, fun-ness (is that a word?) of the Pink Tuff Luv case. And lastly, this is only the second review of anything I have written in my life. Usually I could care less to share. But hopefully the longest you will spend deciding on a case is reading this ridiculously long review!! Enjoy. |

The Tuff-Luv Napa Leather case is beautifully made and absolutely gorgeous in pink! It shipped from the UK and arrived promptly. As noted, it was designed especially for the Kindle 2, so it fits perfectly and has apertures everywhere needed (e.g. to plug in the charger cord or a headset and to turn pages).
I feel "Legally Blonde" now with my pink Kindle cover. I LUV it! |
lots of luv

| I did exactly what a previous reviewer (JustARegularReader) did and spent so much time studying what cover to get for my new Kindle 2 which I was ordering. I also ended up with this beautiful pink flip style Tuf Luv and absolutely love the looks and the entire construction. I especially like going to the local coffee shop and being able to flip the cover over so it stands on the table by itself and allows me to enjoy my coffee and muffin hands free....not to mention all the nice comments I get from others who just have to come over to see what I am staring at! And also, it arrived very promptly even before the Kindle which I had ordered at the same time.....I would highly recommend this product to anyone interested in a good Kindle cover, and especially us gals who can get it in pink, and you guys can still get it in the macho black. |
