More Exercise Anyone?
In my opinion we all see the person that we would like to be in out minds eye, or at least we acknowledge what we need to do to get there in the long run. The problem is that even though we know what we need to do, more often than not we will not do it; taking action is what makes change happen.
There are so many benefits involved health wise in changing your diet and the amount of exercise that you do. This is a proven medical fact. If you are trying to lose weight or just reduce your stress levels, changing certain aspects in you life can enhance the way you feel and live, and it doesn’t have to be anything dramatic either. Small changes can make the world of difference, something as simple as walking to the shops or taking the stairs on a regular basis will help you see small benefits long term. Exercise isn’t just about working out in gyms or putting the miles in on the tarmac.
Activity taken on a regular basis boosts the circulatory system which is a critical part of delivering nutrients and oxygen around our bodies and removing waste and toxins, it also elevates feelings of well being, brings reduction in the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and helps maintain healthy weight.
When you exercise the brain responds by releasing a chemical that is known as endorphins, this chemical makes you feel happy, which would be a good response to problems such as anxiety and depression and great for busting stress.
There are many activities that you can do as exercise other than lifting weights, simple things of everyday life like vigorous house work, walking the dog or mowing the lawn. It’s recommended that we all get 30 minutes of exercise a day, we can either do it at once or we can do it in managed sessions; it’s completely up to you. What’s important is that you stick to doing it.
Aerobic exercises like swimming, cycling, brisk walking and running are excellent ways to work out, although if you have health problems or have been inactive for a while its recommended that you seek advice from a medical professional before setting out.
If you have the urge to go out and run miles and miles or workout hard make sure that you warm up and build yourself up slowly, going out and just doing it could result in injury and soreness, if this happens you wont stick to your regime.
If you ensure that you eat a well balanced diet of protein, complex carbohydrates, fruit, vegetables and fibre, combine it with some daily exercise and you will be amazed at the benefits. You’ll be fitter, healthier, slimmer and happier but most of all you will probably live longer.
