LESS EQUALS MORE

Tiger Woods was asked, “How do you feel about your
competition?” Tiger replied, “My competition comes not from
other people, but from the golf course in my mind.”
Personally, my workouts are not gauged on how much I can
lift that day or how fast I can run a mile. My workouts are
all about efficiency. If I can accomplish my goals in half
the time, doing half the routines, you’re darn right I am
going to do it.

Setting Fitness Goals

Many people make the mistake of setting their fitness goals too high when they embark on an exercise program. This leads them to abandon their plans out of frustration and impatience. Setting manageable goals is key to maintaining a fitness program over time.

If you have been completely sedentary you need to start out your fitness regimen by working towards small and realistic goals. These can be as simple as walking around the block once a day for a week, and adding another block each subsequent week until they reach the 30 minutes recommended by health professionals. A few sessions with a personal trainer can help you set reasonable goals for weight-bearing exercise like weight training. In the beginning focus on overall conditioning rather than building muscle. Check with staff at your gym or fitness center for recommendations about what exercise classes are right for your current fitness level.

Ten Great Tips About Your Feet

Look after your feet and your feet will look after you. Follow these ten great tips and take better care of your feet.

1. You need to keep the muscles and ligaments in your feet working efficiently. The best way to do that is exercise. So get out there walking. Get a dog or join a walking group.
2. Improve your immune system and this will help you fight the viruses that lead to unsightly verrucas. Add vitamin A, selenium and zinc supplements to your diet.
3. Avoid fungal infections such as Athlete’s Foot. Always dry your feet properly. If you get infected, apply lavender or tea tree oil twice a day.
4. About one quarter of the bones in your body are in your feet. It’s not at all unusual to get arthritis in your big toe, as this toe has to support the whole of our body weight with each step we take. Glucosamine and Omega 3 oils may help to ease the inflammation and reduce the pain.
5. Pamper your tired feet with a good foot bath. After a long soak, use a good quality skin cream to keep them in good condition.
6. Use a golf ball to help relieve stress. Place the ball on the floor and roll it backwards and forwards using your instep. This improves circulation at the same time as reducing your stress level.
7. Reflexologists use massage of the foot to help you with various illnesses and conditions. They manipulate the energy points in your feet to improve your well-being.
8. Don’t forget your feet when you are applying your suntan lotion. Sunburnt feet are no fun at all.
9. If you are a diabetic, pay special attention to your feet. The nerve endings in your feet may not be as sensitive as they once were and you may not notice a cut or graze until it is quite infected. Have a professional cut your toe nails.
10. Be careful what you put on your feet. High heels may be fashionable but try to wear them for only short periods of time and don’t walk long distances in them. If your feet get sore, try rubbing some aloe vera gel onto them.

Meditate Your Way to Business Success

Princeton University defines meditation as “continuous and profound contemplation or musing on a subject or series of subjects of a deep or abstruse nature; the habit of meditation is the basis for all real knowledge.”

It’s all about calming the mind to allow for greater inner perspective.

The problem with meditation is that most people think of it as “sitting on a rock and humming OM for an hour.”

In fact, meditation can be dynamic, moving, energetic and calming, all at the same time.
